To my wife

The moment we met I knew God gave me a gift, asking you out and making it swift. With this warm fuzzy feeling inside I couldn’t waste any time, I knew in that moment your heart belongs with mine. From the time I held your hand walking down the street, I thanked God that we had this chance to meet. Your not the woman I thought I’d be with, you are so much more, we just never know what God has in store.

Making music with God

“The Lord is my strength and my song; he has given me victory. ” The world is like a huge orchestra; each Christian is a beautiful instrument for God. He is our conductor and all we have to do is follow His lead. Prayer keeps our hearts tuned. His word is the sheet music that inspires us. Sharing God’s word and what He has done in our life, to the rhythm of God, is the Holy Spirit working through us. Christians are making God’s music all over the world. Don’t be out of tune by not taking time to pray. Dear Heavenly Father, “Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom” (Psalms 90:12, NLT)

Motives

Before my walk with Christ my prayers and thoughts were all things for my pleasure. I still need to think before I pray to see if this is all for my gain or God’s. Did you ever pray to win the lottery or for a super fancy vehicle? We should be praying for God to meet our needs and not our wants, and that can be difficult at times. God’s will needs to be first however and our needs second.

Give it all to God!

In my lifetime I have piled more than my share of troubles on the Lord. However, the Lord still says come to me with all your worries, and problems, I will take that mountain of worriment that is weighing you down and will give you my yoke which is light. Thank you, Lord, for your faithfulness and the peace that you give us by carrying our heavy loads. πŸ™

Giving

Karen and I lead a group called” WHAT” on Tuesdays every week. What, stands for, without human applause today. It is a Bible study group that is mainly for the homeless in our town, but is open to everyone. This Tuesday was awesome, we hadn’t had any chairs to spare because the room was so full. We like to have a topic ready but always pray for the Holy Spirit to lead us, so if something else comes up He leads us to speak. We will go around the room for a brief check-in, asking what good and bad things are going on in their lives. We are always amazed at how the topic will change. Two of our members were talking about giving things to others and how they have trouble with giving too much and working on not expecting things back. God asks us to be a cheerful giver, not to give more than you have, and not to expect to be paid back when lending. These can be hard to do when you work really hard for what you have. Sometimes we feel as though people aren’t deserving, so we judge and start to become bitter when others ask. God, help us to be able to give to others without expecting anything in return. Help us to give cheerfully and to only give what we can. In Jesus name amen.
