“Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.”
Philippians 2:3-8 NLT
“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”

“And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.”

I like to play computer games at times. This morning I was playing a slot machine game, and it didn’t last long. I usually try to bet as high as I can. That way, you get a more significant return. Around ten rolls later, I ended up with only 5,000 coins left. This was after I was betting 75000 a roll. I almost gave up but thought to myself,” Let’s go down to 500 coins each roll. I can play for a couple of minutes longer.” It humbled me to go down that low, making me feel like a cheapskate, but I did it anyway and scored way bigger than I could have imagined! Having more than I had when I first started, I could play a bit longer and have leftovers for tomorrow. God laid it on my heart to remember the widow’s offering in Mark 12:41 – 44. Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were received and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple Treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two tiny copper coins worth only a fraction of a penny. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth, but she, out of her poverty, put in everything, all she had to live on. That is an amazing story to help us realize that if we go all-in with what we have that our God, the creator of heaven and Earth, recognizes our Good deeds and faith. Please don’t ever feel ashamed of things like that. The way we dress or the tiny amount that we have to give. God sees all of this, and he is the only one we need to worry about. Please join me in prayer.
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for showing us different things in our lives that help us have a closer walk with you. Thank you for showing us that we shouldn’t be ashamed of what we have to give. As long as we give from a cheerful heart, that is what matters. Thank you for being with us in us and around us in Jesus name amen
