Does Self Get In The Way!

I heard this statement yesterday, “God, help me to be willing to be willing”. I thought to myself I always want to do Gods will. However, As I meditated over this simple phrase, I recognized that was not always the case. How many attempts do I try to do things Karen’s way before I ask for God’s Will to be done. I realized more times than I want to admit. Dear Lord, Forgive me for not letting you be the first responder in my life. Please empty me of my pride, self-righteousness, and self-sufficiency. Teach me O Lord, to come to you first in every aspect of my life no matter how big or small. You said, “Ask and it will be given, Seek and you will find, knock and the door will be open.” Thank you Lord for answering my prayer. Amen

This morning, I read the story of the healing of the ten leper’s Luke 17: 11-19. As Jesus entered into a village ten leper’s lifted up their voices and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And, it came to pass, they were all healed. However, only one of them turned back and with a loud voice glorified God. He fell down on his face at his feet giving thanks. Jesus said, ” Were there not ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Even though I have read this story many times, this morning I saw myself as one of the nine that fails to thank and glorify God for everything he does for me.

Dear Lord, Please forgive me for taking you for granted. Thank you for the small things that you bless me with each day; Waking me up in the morning, being healthy and pain free, hearing the birds sing, seeing the sunrise, and spending time with me. Help me to always be grateful, thankful, and never forget my next breathe is a gift from you. Amen

Romans 12:1

I haven’t taken care of my body over the years. 16 years old till 22 I polluted my body with every drug I could get my hands on. From 16 till the age of 34 I drank myself silly almost everyday. I’m about to turn 41 and have long since quit drugs and alcohol, praise God, but am still doing damage to my body. The fatty foods and garbage that I’m ingesting are hurting my heart. I still drink about 4 cups of coffee and chew tobacco. I have tried to quit these things but with little success. Yesterday I had to see a heart specialist because of some palpitations that it’s having. They will be monitoring me for a couple of weeks and then running some others tests. If I had been more aware of what went into my body as God had asked me to do, I believe that things would be different. Eating a rare steak loaded with salt, a bag of chips for snack with a soda, or grabbing a sweet treat has taken its toll. Romans 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – this is your true and proper worship. We all need to be watching what we put in our bodies and have self control with over indulgence. I’m writing this to all of you in hopes that you become aware of these things before it’s too late and your bodies start to fail. I’m struggling now and need prayers to help me to combat all of these things that have been damaging to my body over the years. If you want to join me in taking care of our bodies then please take a moment in prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for these bodies that you have given us. Help us to be more aware of what we put into them and do with them physically. Guide us in making healthier choices in what we eat to preserve our vessels for our Holy Spirit to dwell in. Thank you ahead of time for showing us the way. In Jesus precious name, Amen!

God’s light

We can use flashlights or fire to help us see in the dark, or we can be in God’s light which is more than a spark. It can illuminate any darkness in our lives even under our feet, leading us to victory now isn’t that sweet! Stay focused on God’s words and what He has to say, it’s a guarantee that you will have a better day. You could choose to ignore the light of your life, and end up having tons of unwanted strife. This is not for me I choose wisdom today, God will jump into my life and lead the way, just listen to all that He has to say, everyone together let’s have a holy day. If you want to let’s fold our hands and pray. Dear heavenly father thank you so much for all that you have for us today all the beautiful words to say we love you so much. Help us to be more like you and live in your light. We give you ourselves to help make us better, in Jesus name amen.
