Judging

I have been in recovery for many years now and have been to many meetings. Speaker meetings are the ones that I love most because they are stories of sadness and heart ache to victory. A number of years ago I was at a meeting and was there earlier than usual to rub elbows with some friends and also newcomers. I spotted a guy thalooked like a trouble maker. Telling my buddies that it didn’t look like he would last very long in A.A.. The meeting was about to begin, so we all took our seats and the speaker walked up to the podium. It was the guy that I had judged. He had a remarkable story that touched my heart to the core. He had over 8 years of sobriety and had done well for himself. This guy ended up being my sponsor! We started a group together called the A.A. adventurers, and took whoever we could to meetings that were different and farther away. We can either pass judgement on others, or approach them with a loving heart. That person may be an angel in disguise.

These things gone forever!

Our new home in heaven there will be no more death, sorrow, crying or pain. Jesus will wipe all of our tears from our eyes never to be hurt, sad, depressed or lonely again. The old song says, ”Heaven happy home above, heaven land of peace and love. ” Make your reservations with God today so you can spend eternity with him. Repent, be baptized and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit in your life.

Addiction continued

Yesterday went pretty well I have to save for about three-quarters of the day I had it in my mind that I needed to do better. My problem is chewing tobacco. Well one of my many problems. Of course I slipped a couple of times ,the cool thing about God is he is a forgiving God. And the Bible states that no one is perfect, no not one. when we slip and stumble that’s the time when we need to pray to God for forgiveness and for his strength to get us through. Please don’t give up stand back up dust yourself off and ask God for the strength to do better.

Addiction

Are you an addict? Often times people here the word “addict” or “addiction” and think it refers to drugs and alcohol. We don’t tend to think that we are addicted to anything. But there are many many types of addictions. You can be addicted to chocolate, to shopping, pornography, gossip. Collecting clothing or other items that you don’t necessarily need but you feel like you do. Addiction to perfection, like checking yourself out in a mirror every chance you get to make sure you look great not only for others but yourself as well. Gambling, lying, masturbating, cheating, smoking or chewing tobacco, the list goes on and on. Let’s make a pact today that whatever our addiction maybe, we will put it aside just for the day and let God have it. Every time that we get that impulse towards our addictions we take a knee wherever we can and ask God for the strength to overcome our weaknesses. I read a chart in a doctor’s office that the craving for the things that we are addicted to only typically last for around ten seconds? I’m going to be honest with you and say that my cravings tend to last a little bit longer. I believe our results will be the same if we just trust in God and ask him for the strength. Dear heavenly father please be with us in us and around us today shielding us from our sinful nature and our habits. Help us to keep our connection with you when times are tough and when times are great in Jesus name amen.
