Love softly

My daughter Lily takes after me when it comes to loving animals. We have three cats and two dogs and she’s always playing with one of them. Wrapping them in blankets like a baby or trying to dress them up somehow. We had picked up two kittens at the same time at a yard sale. I had picked out a calico one and my daughter picked the tan and white one. They were so cute that it was hard not to pick them up and cuddle with them. The tan and white ones we named,” Peanut butter”, and the calico one, “Jelly.” Peanut butter loved the attention and let you know constantly that he needs to be petted. Jelly on the other hand was very skittish and awkward to pet. She looked as though she was having a seizure but hyper at the same time, and quite comical to watch actually. If you would walk over to her she would jam…” No pun intended.” My wife and I built a little cat skyscraper thing with a box on top for them to lay in. The only chance you had of petting her was when she was asleep and in that box. As soon as she woke up however she would start jolting around wanting to get away from you. I had to tell my daughter that she cannot go over and grab her and hold her against her will. Something must have happened when she was younger with the human for her to be acting that way and we needed to show her love a little bit at a time. I would never look jelly in the eyes when I approached her I would look out the window or at the bookshelf and slowly reach my hand in for the most awkward pet in the world. I would also move very slowly when I was around her is not to spook her. I wanted to show her how much we truly loved her and how patient we could be on this journey. Our plan worked, it’s been about a year now and things are going splendidly. Jelly will jump up on the bed and snuggle with us and loves being petted now she just lays there and let this rub her tummy and scratch your back. The relationship I have with this cat reminds me of the relationship that I had with God early on. I didn’t want to go all-in for fear that I would be rejected or embarrassed. But God showed me love slowly through different experiences and difficulties in my life. He doesn’t force himself upon you, he waits, stands at the door, and knocks. All we have to do to have the greatest love in the universe is to open up our hearts and ask him to join us. “Revelation 3:20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with them, and they with me.” If you would like Jesus to come into your heart today but you’ve been too scared to ask or not sure that you want to jump all in, then pray with me now and see how He can change your life. Dear Heavenly Father, we have lived our lives the way that we wanted to up till now. We would like to open up the door and let you into our hearts and our minds. Help to remodel the way that we think and see and hear. Heavenly Father lead us, guide us, and teach us how to be closer to you. In Jesus’ precious name amen!!!!

Fix your eyes on Jesus!

If you’re in a season of hardship and life feels like an uphill climb, may you stay the course until Jesus tells you otherwise. May you determine NOT to make any rash decisions that you’ll later regret. May you instead, fix your eyes on Jesus and take your cues from Him. May you trust Jesus to carry your burden so you can hold fast to His promises. May you exhale frustration and inhale God’s peace and provision. This season will pass. And you’ll come through it with strength, clarity, and conviction. Don’t take the enemy’s bait. Follow the Savior’s lead. You’ll be glad you did. Blessings on your weekend. #SusieLarsonBlessings

Follow Jesus!

Proverbs 4:25-27 (NLT) ~ Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path. Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil.

“Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.”

Prayer

Dear heavenly father thank you for yet another beautiful day. Thank you for protecting us each and every day from all the evils of this world. You are a shield and our hedge of protection from the devil’s fiery arrows. We lay each and every problem, struggle, fear, and worry at your feet this morning. We do this so that we can be burden free and also more productive in helping others. Please touch our eyes ears and mouth so that we may see hear and speak the way you would want us to Lord. In Jesus precious name, Amen! Psalms 23:4-6 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me, your rod and your staff they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

God Read My Heart 🥲

“And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”

He Reached Down From Heaven!

This is for those who’ve walked a long road of heartbreak, sickness, insecurity, or addiction. For those who’ve gone too long without seeing the sun. For those who’ve lost heart and hope because the battle rages on. This blessing is for you: May you rest right here, in this place, and see Jesus’ provision here. May our mighty God roll up His sleeves, reach down from on high, and rescue YOU because He delights in you – He really does. May God break through in this very place and breathe fresh life into your soul. May your valley of weeping fill to the brim with pools of blessing (Ps.84:6). May Jesus lift your chin so you can look to Him and be RADIANT with no shred of shame on you (Ps.34:5). May Jesus restore your soul in a way that surprises and blesses you. And from one traveler to another: I DO believe and KNOW that God cares about our battle, intervenes in ways we cannot see, and will come through for us in ways that only He can. May you hang on and hang in there until then. We’re in this together.

Psalm 18:16-19 NLT ~ He reached down from heaven and rescued me; he drew me out of deep waters. He rescued me from my powerful enemies, from those who hated me and were too strong for me. They attacked me at a moment when I was in distress, but the Lord supported me. He led me to a place of safety; he rescued me because he delights in me.
