My wife and I were driving down the road having a conversation and the word “stupid”, had popped out of my mouth. Not in anger or anything like that but my 5-year-old daughter was in the back seat and was offended by what was said. She said, “Dad, that’s a bad word and it’s not apropreate to say”! I understand that it’s misspelled, she was trying to say appropriate for anyone who couldn’t guess. It was too cute and I laughed a little. She told me that it was not funny, so I apologized and told her she was right, that I should never have said that. On occasion, things can pop out of our mouths that we may think are appropriate, but can hurt others feelings. Often times I say a prayer in the morning for only God’s words to pass my lips and not mine looks like that needs to be an everyday prayer. Proverbs 16:24 Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
