Let’s talk about insecurities. All through, growing up, I was insecure about everything. From the way, that my breath smelled, to my weight, my size, and being able to get along with others. Just getting, and keeping friends was difficult for me. I always felt like an outsider that everyone around me was judging all the time. I weighed in between 250 to 285 lb during my adult life, most of which was due to lifting weighting. I stand at 6 ft tall and look like a police officer. My muscles grow abnormally large and people quite often stare at me. I’ve even had people come across the gym to grab my arm and shake it saying, “I wish I could be as huge as you.” In my mind, however, I was quite the opposite. I was always the fat kid even at my strongest. I’ve had struggles even through my marriage in feeling adequate for my wife in many different ways. Even though my wife has never made me feel insecure.
When I started walking with God, for the first time in my life, I felt secure in my life. God accepts us just the way we are. He doesn’t tell us to go to the gym and run 20 miles and eat like a bird. He will use us, however, whenever and whatever we look like. When we are reading our Bibles, being still, listening to God, and fellowshipping with others we get, “THE GLOW,” as I like to call it. This is when we are so in tune and intimate with Jesus that we are filled to the brim with His Holy Spirit! I gotta say that that feeling is outstanding, to say the least. If you’ve ever heard the phrase, “Floating on cloud nine,” this would be that. The insecurities, worries, and doubts about yourself just fade away and you are left with the ultimate comfort that the God that created our entire universe, “Treasures you.” Once you have this immense approval and feeling of overwhelming love it will never matter what others think of you. Psalms 34:4 I sought the Lord, and he heard me and delivered me from all my fears. Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they show walk, and not faint. Isaiah 41:10 Fear not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea. I will help thee; yea. I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. 2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and love, and of a sound mind. These are just a few of the many verses the Bible has on this topic. If you would like to be more secure in God’s love and please join me in prayer this morning. Dear heavenly Father, thank you so much for yet another beautiful day. Thank you so much for all the blessings in our life including all the little ones that we take for granted every day. Heavenly Father helps us to keep focused on you today on your needs, on your will, and what you would have us do. Lord, we know that your love is the only one that truly matters. We were made in your image to be like you in heart, soul, and mind. Help us to be the best version of what you intended us to be today. Getting rid of all of the worries fears and anxieties in this world. In Jesus’ precious name amen.
