Just a smidge of faith!

There are so many stories in the Bible that inspire me that it’s hard to pick a favorite. If I had to pick a favorite however it would have to be the story of Peter and Jesus out on the water. Matthew 14: 25-33 Shortly before Dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them:” Take courage! It is I, Don’t be afraid.” ” Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” ” Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water, and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out,” Lord save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in The boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.” There are so many ways that you can take this story and all of them are valid. One being that Jesus is all-powerful and walked on water and having power over the wind. Number two would be how weak we truly are when it comes to things in this world and how easily we can become distracted. My favorite however is number three. If we keep our eyes on Jesus instead of this world and have even the smallest amount of faith we can be stronger in this life than we can even imagine. Jesus even tells us so in Matthew 17: 20-21 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Now if that doesn’t inspire you I don’t know what would. Just imagine having the smallest amount of faith. A mustard seed is one of the smallest seeds out there in Jesus is telling us that if we just had that little speck of faith we could move a mountain. I do not believe that that is a figure of speech. Exodus 14: 21-22 then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong East wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left. This text is telling us just that, all we have to do is have faith in our Almighty heavenly father that has the power to do these things. If any of you out there or wanting to increase your faith in Jesus Christ our Lord today and please join me in prayer. Dear heavenly father thank you so much for yet another beautiful day. Heavenly Father helps us to increase our faith in you today. Lead us and guide us in whatever you’d like us to do. please forgive us for any of our sins and trespasses known and unknown. thank you for always being with us in us and around us, always wrapping your arms around us when we’re sad or just when we need a moment. Lord, we pray for all those people who are out there who were lost and broken and need you in their lives. In Jesus’ name amen!
