Last night, my Bible study teacher brought beautiful purple flowers to share with everyone. When he brings flowers, he separates them, so we each get a few. The bunch of flowers was still wrapped in the cellophane at the end of the study. Then I heard someone say, “ look at the stems of the flowers; they are black with rot.”
In his defense, the teacher said, “I only looked at the beautiful purple flowers. I never looked at the stems.”

Praise God. That’s how God sees us. We are beautiful flowers, precious jewels made in his image. Even though our roots are mired by sin, He still loves us. And calls us to serve him. He cleanses us from the filth of sin. He washes us white as snow. Have you been cleansed by the blood of Jesus? It makes me think of this old hymn that we sang when I was growing up.
🎶Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing pow’r?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Chorus
Are you washed in the blood,
In the soul cleansing blood of the Lamb?
Are your garments spotless? Are they white as snow?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
🎶When the Bridegroom cometh will your robes be white?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Will your soul be ready for the mansions bright,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb?
🎶Lay aside the garments that are stained with sin,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb;
There’s a fountain flowing for the soul unclean,
O be washed in the blood of the Lamb!
