“Little children (believers, dear ones), guard yourselves from idols—[false teachings, moral compromises, and anything that would take God’s place in your heart].” 1 John 5:21 AMP https://www.bible.com/1588/1jn.5.21.amp
None of these things are sinful, money, gold, shopping, eating, fancy homes, expensive cars or vacations. However, if you put it first in your life before God then you have made it a modern day idol. Scripture says, For the Love of money is the root of all evil. It’s not the money it self it’s all about the love of what money can provide for you; security, luxury life,
“While in prison, Paul wrote a letter encouraging brothers and sisters of Christ to continue walking on the path God called them to travel. He reminded them they were all traveling on the same road in the same direction.
“In light of all this, here’s what I want you to do. While I’m locked up here, a prisoner for the Master, I want you to get out there and walk—better yet, run!—on the road God called you to travel. I don’t want any of you sitting around on your hands. I don’t want anyone strolling off, down some path that goes nowhere. And mark that you do this with humility and discipline—not in fits and starts, but steadily, pouring yourselves out for each other in acts of love, alert at noticing differences and quick at mending fences.
You were all called to travel on the same road and in the same direction, so stay together, both outwardly and inwardly. You have one Master, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who rules over all, works through all, and is present in all. Everything you are and think and do is permeated with Oneness.”
Ephesians 4:1-6 msg.
Pride has cast a shadow on how we treat people. We need to pour ourselves out for each other in acts of love. If we can wear face mask, social distance, and stay home for months, for the safety of our entire country. Then we definitely can make changes on how we treat each other. The golden rule Matthew 7:12, “Do to other what you want them to do to you.” If the tables were turned, are you treating people the way you want to be treated. The lesson we need to learn is; Always do what is right, Love mercy, and walk humbly with God. Micah 6:8.
My hoodie covers most of my face so I can stay focused. Trying to steady my breathing and keep the momentum going at the same time. The sweat keeps stinging my eyes and my arms cramp when I attempt to wipe them. I can feel every microfiber tear in my chest and arms from every last set and repetition, but I need to keep going. If I pause too long I will lose my focus and drive. Keep pushing for that final victory. A small crowd of people have gathered around me but I try to avoid them, keeping my eyes fixed on the floor or weights. I’m not here for them, Im here to push myself to the limits and see just what God has given me. I lie down on the bench and fix my hands in their perfect placement. I take my last breath before taking the weight off of the rack. Guiding it down ever so slowly to feel the negative rep. I push with all my might, trying to keep it steady. I’m about halfway up now my arms are shaking so badly and that I can barely keep them inline. My spotter sees me struggling, and grabs the bar to assist. Thank God that he is there to lighten this heavy load. I wasn’t able to take this leap yet, but the willingness to try was in me and that makes me proud. You never know what you can do until you try. Its always nice to know however that you have someone in your corner pushing you and guiding you to victory. God will never give you more than you can handle.
My wife and I have owed a debt to a collection agency for over 5 years. We weren’t making a lot of money the last couple of years so we made minimal payments on it which just covered the interest. Then we ended up cutting off our payments due to the need of basic necessities. We decided that we needed to get out from underneath this so we can move on with our lives. We hit our knees and prayed to God to help us. 3 days later I had rolled out of bed with a number $2,500 stuck in my head. I went up and told my wife let’s offer the collection agency $1,000 2 be done with our debt. When we called The collection agency the lady on the other end of the line was very doubtful about us sending in a request for $1,000. But she did what we had asked and we received a call a couple days later saying if you pass $1,900 now then you can do payments of 400.00 over the coarse of 11 months! This amount will squash what you owe us! Praise God for answered prayers. If you are tired of banging your head up against the wall over different things that you can’t seem to handle then hit your knees and pray about it, God is waiting.
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.
Psalms 28:7 NIV
I messed up at work today,” tomorrow I can do better.” I was rude to my wife, ” I can do better”. I failed miserably as a father,” I can do better”. I disappointed my best friend, “I can do better.” I gave bad advice, ” I can do better. It’s nice to have this kind of motivation in mind when we fall short of God’s glory. We are going to fail in life, multiple times. If you’re anything like me on occasion you fall flat on your face. Saying, “I can do better,” is good but how about if we said,” through God I can do better.” That changes everything. There are obstacles placed in our everyday lives that sometimes we cannot hurdle. but through prayer, meditation, and scripture we can overcome all. Matthew 19:26 Jesus looked at them and said, “with man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
““Teacher, which command in the law is the most important?” Jesus answered, “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and most important command. And the second command is like the first: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’” Matthew 22:36-39 NCV https://www.bible.com/105/mat.22.36-39.ncv
Please take time to reflect on the following;
Is God first in your life?
Do you love God with, all your heart, all your soul and, all your mind?
If you answered “no” to either question, it’s impossible to love your neighbor as you love yourself. When God lives in you his love flows through you to others like living water. People ask, “who is my neighbor?” Everyone is your neighbor. Everyone that cross your path in life. When you love God, He gives you love and compassion for others no matter if they are rich, poor, brown, black or white. We’re all God’s children. I pray that we have a greater love for God which will overflow to everyone in the world. God bless you!❤️
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
Colossians 3:23-24 NIV
“If we say we have no sin, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins, because we can trust God to do what is right. He will cleanse us from all the wrongs we have done. If we say we have not sinned, we make God a liar, and we do not accept God’s teaching.” 1 John 1:8-10 NCV https://www.bible.com/105/1jn.1.8-10.ncv
“As the Scriptures say: “There is no one who always does what is right, not even one.
God makes people right with himself through their faith in Jesus Christ. This is true for all who believe in Christ, because all people are the same: Everyone has sinned and fallen short of God’s glorious standard, and all need to be made right with God by his grace, which is a free gift. They need to be made free from sin through Jesus Christ.” Romans 3:10 22-24 NCV
